Natalie Wilson, PhD is a literature and women’s studies scholar, blogger, and author. She teaches at Cal State San Marcos and specializes in the areas of gender studies, feminism, feminist theory, girl studies, militarism, body studies, boy culture and masculinity, contemporary literature, and popular culture.She is author of the blogs Professor, what if…? and Seduced by Twilight. She also writes the guest column Monstrous Musings for the Womanist Musings blog. She is currently writing a book examining the contemporary vampire craze from a feminist perspective.

Previous essays have appeared in journals such as Feminist Media Studies, Disability Studies Quarterly, The International Journal of Sexuality and Gender Studies, and Women and Performance: A Journal of Feminist Theory. Her work has also appeared in academic anthologies such as Technologies of Mothering: New Conceptions, New Deliveries, Womanhood in Anglophone Literary Culture, Butler Matters: Judith Butler’s Impact on Feminist and Queer Studies, and (Re)Interpretations: The Shapes of Justice in Women’s Experience. She has a forthcoming essay, “Civilized Vampires Versus Savage Werewolves,” in Bitten By Twilight: Youth Culture, Media, and The Twilight Saga.

Dr. Wilson is also part of the collaborative research group that publishes United States Military Violence Against Women and is currently working on an investigative piece on militarized sexual violence perpetuated against civilians.
